What is From Survive to Thrive?
It’s a donation-based healing retreat where guests disconnect from modern chaos and reconnect with nature, nourishment, and themselves. We focus on simple living, mindfulness, and community rhythms.
Are children and elderly allowed?
Absolutely! All community members and all future members are required to complete a course.
Where is the retreat located?
We’re establishing the first retreat site in Hawaii, with land currently being secured. The location will be off-grid, peaceful, and surrounded by nature—away from cities and distractions.
What kind of facilities are there?
We keep things minimal, clean, and natural:
8×8 off-grid cabins or huts for sleeping Composting toilets
Outdoor showers
A covered outdoor kitchen and communal dining space
Natural gardens and walking paths
What food is provided?
We serve two simple, nourishing meals per day:
Brunch and dinner: organic beans, rice, and vegetables. Fresh fruit is available before each meal. Meals are eaten seated and prepared by volunteers along side our in-house chef. On the property we are interested in, it currently has over 112 fruiting trees!
What will my day look like?
A typical day includes:
Morning meditation or nature walks. Midday personal time or light volunteering (gardening, cooking, maintenance) Brunch and dinner Evening reflection or quiet space. Sundays are silent and food-free (optional, encouraged)
How much does it cost to stay?
There is no charge to attend. This retreat is 100% donation-based. You may contribute financially if you’re able, but it’s not expected and only after you have completed a course. The experience is offered freely as a gift.
How is this retreat funded and built?
We’re starting small, with:
Simple structures built from natural or reclaimed materials
Volunteer labor and community support
Minimal infrastructure to reduce costs
Initial funding comes from the founding donors.
Over time, optional guest donations and potential community support will sustain operations.
Can I live here long-term?
Guests are welcome for 2 to 12 weeks. Founders and volunteers will have access to semi-permanent housing. A permanent housing location will be constructed in the future for participants that have completed the course and want to stay.
Do I have to work while I’m there?
There are no chores required, but light daily contributions are appreciated (like sweeping, cooking, or watering plants). It’s about shared care, not obligation.
Is it really substance-free?
Yes. This is a space for clarity and healing. That means no alcohol, drugs, tobacco, stimulants, or recreational substances. We honor the body and mind as sacred.
Can I bring pets?
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate pets at this time due to the natural setting, wildlife, and respect for other guests’ healing journeys. Once the community side is launched, pets will be considered case by case.
